About FCM International

FCM International represents FCM at an international level. It works to help local governments around the world develop their capacity to deliver basic services, promote economic growth and encourage the participation of their citizens.

Since 1987, FCM International's program is having a lasting impact on the lives of millions of people in more than 20 countries around the world Working in partnership with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), FCM mobilizes Canadian municipal expertise to support local governance and democracy practices, and enhance the delivery of essential services.

FCM brings together Canadian elected municipal officials and staff with their peers in the developing world. Through cooperation, collaborative learning and problem solving, FCM programs tackle complex developmental challenges, such as advancing municipal reform in Guyana, supporting a local government response to HIV/AIDS in Botswana, and strengthening land-management systems in Vietnam.
