STRONGER TOGETHER

I have been involved with FCM since 2007. I have had the honour to serve FCM on the board of directors, policy committees, National Task Force on Syrian Refugee Resettlement, and as Governance Representative for Latin America. My involvement with FCM has been a tremendously rewarding experience and I feel that I have much more to offer by playing a bigger role in the federation.

As a candidate for Third Vice-President, I want to serve the members by helping you build strong, healthy, sustainable communities: from roads and housing to policing and green innovation.

For 13 years I have had the honour of serving the citizens of Saskatoon on city council. I am the council lead on Economic Development, and long-time Chair of the Planning, Development and Community Services Committee. During this time I have also been active with the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA) as a director on the board, executive member, and committee chair.

In addition, I am President and Chief Executive Officer of Junior Achievement (JA), where I help young people develop life and leadership skills, and educate them in entrepreneurship and business. I was selected by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) to be on the National Steering Committee on Financial Literacy and a member of their National Financial Literacy Working Group for Indigenous Peoples. I bring this experience to my FCM responsibilities in Latin America where the project’s focus is on economic development with women and youth.

I have been truly blessed to have been given the opportunity to work on behalf of all Canadians through FCM, as well as through FCAC, and I am eager to continue working for every Canadian, in every municipality, from Coast, to Coast, to Coast.

I have received the unanimous support of Saskatoon City Council, as well as the support of many colleagues from Saskatchewan and from across Canada. I also asked for, and received the support from my family. What I have been able to accomplish locally, nationally and internationally would not have been possible without my family supporting me in all that I do.

Effective leaders should be clear on their positions and always willing to listen to others’ point of view. Leaders should be genuine, accessible and accountable. I put these beliefs in practice in everything I do.

FCM is there for its members. It is there for you. I look forward to talking with you about what direction and positions FCM can take to address your concerns.

I look forward to the opportunity to represent and serve you, and I ask for your support, because we are Stronger Together!
