Hello to all my municipal colleagues across Canada,
This year’s Annual Conference and Trade Show will be like no other. It’s the first full gathering of Canada’s municipal leaders since COVID-19 turned our lives upside down. For those who—like me—dearly missed our 2020 event, it’s the opportunity to reconnect after more than a year we’ve been working on the front lines of a global pandemic. We all have a lot to share, and a lot to learn from each other. These lessons will sustain us as we move beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.
This conference will be about moving forward. As municipal leaders on the front lines, staying still isn’t an option for us. We serve people who have real needs, and we understand them like no other order of government does. And when we join forces through FCM, we can overcome any challenge and make our communities stronger.
This pandemic has shown Canada the incredible resiliency of municipalities of all sizes. We’ve supported residents and businesses on the ground, kept vital services going strong, and laid important foundations for recovery—all while navigating an unprecedented crisis. As your national voice, FCM has been there every step of the way—from coordinating frontline response efforts to driving critical federal investments in our cities and communities.
Count on this: this is going to be one AC you don’t want to miss.
Though we can’t be physically together, we are here for each other—and FCM is here for you. There’s strength in numbers. There’s strength in FCM. By sharing what we’ve learned and uniting with one voice, we’ll get through this pandemic and build a better Canada.
I’ll be online at the AC, and I look forward to seeing you there!
