Don Iveson, Mayor of Edmonton and chair of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM)'s Big City Mayors' Caucus (BCMC) and Mayor John Tory will meet with BCMC colleagues at the Toronto Housing Summit, September 30, 2016 to lay out a plan to make sure that every Canadian has an affordable place to call home. The federal government will be making decisions on its Phase 2 social infrastructure fund this fall, and with consultations underway on a National Housing Strategy, mayors are bringing forward solutions to immediately address the housing crisis in Canada.
The Toronto Housing Summit brings federal, provincial, municipal officials, including the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, federal Minister of Families, Children and Social Development and Chris Ballard, Ontario Minister of Housing and Poverty Reduction, together with stakeholders to exchange ideas and proposals for more affordable housing.
