The final step in the Partners for Climate Protection milestone framework is for municipalities to assess the progress they’ve made towards the emission reduction goals they set in Milestone 2 and to reassess the strategic direction of the local climate action plan they created and implemented in Milestones 3 and 4. This guide details the three reporting requirements for Milestone 5 recognition.
Use this guide to:
- Learn how to update your municipality’s greenhouse gas emissions inventory and compare your current inventory to your baseline from Milestone 1
- Find out what metrics to use to document results from notable projects and initiatives in your community
- Report on stakeholder engagement and participation
- Decide how you would like to submit your documentation to the PCP Program for Milestone 5 recognition
This guide is designed for municipal staff who are responsible for reporting on climate change action plans. It includes a number of examples, such as a sample project monitoring framework and a number of Milestone 5 reports municipalities have submitted to the PCP Program.
