Berry Vrbanovic has a long political history with the City of Kitchener. He was recently elected as mayor after having served on Kitchener City Council for six consecutive terms, beginning in 1994. He was a long standing Kitchener Public Library Board member and has held various board and leadership roles over the course of his career. Mayor Vrbanovic also currently serves as a Deputy-Treasurer of United Cities and Local Government.
Mayor Vrbanovic was an active member of the FCM Board from 2000 to 2013. He chaired a variety of standing committees during his time on the Board and was president in 2011-2012. His dedication to FCM for more than a decade is a reflection of his strong belief in the organization and its mandate. His familiarity with all aspects of FCM and his membership on the FCM Big City Mayor's Caucus makes him an asset in this new role with the GMF Council.
Berry has been a leader on environmental initiatives in his community and is a former Co-Chair of Kitchener's Environmental Advisory Committee. He played a leadership role with many successes including a citizen's air quality plan, a stormwater utility, and Kitchener's own green fund.
