Head of Technical Services, City of Montreal, QC
Jean Bouvrette is head of the Ville de Montréal's technical services section. He has been a champion of the environment throughout his 20-year career with the Ville, notably by way of his involvement with the Biodôme, the Planetarium, the Insectarium and the Montréal Botanical Garden.
Beginning in 1995, he spearheaded several operational and building modifications to reduce energy and water consumption and GHG emissions, followed by a major, multi-year energy efficiency project to reduce the ecological footprint of the four institutions. Ensuring that decisions about retrofits were based on environmental, financial and operational considerations, his leadership has accounted for a 50% reduction in energy consumption and a 50% reduction in GHG emissions since 1995, with significant cost savings to the municipality.
