To encourage the use of public transportation among 12- to 17-year-olds, while offering improved interaction in a rural community with few local social outlets.
InitiativeTaxi 12-17 offers greater social opportunities and ready access to public transportation in the rural community of Sainte-Julie. Young users pay a fixed fee, while the city pays the difference to the taxi company. In addition to motivating young people to use public transportation, rather than relying on their parents, Taxi 12-17 teaches them to become respectful and responsible citizens.
- Taxi 12-17 reduces use of privately owned vehicles.

- The city invested $7,500 in this initiative versus $75,000 for another public transit route.
