Community Infrastructure Partnership Project
Funded by Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada, the Community Infrastructure Partnership Project was an FCM national program focused on First Nations-municipal joint water and solid waste management.
This initiative enhanced the capacity of participating First Nations and adjacent municipalities to develop and implement municipal type service agreements.
The project provided toolkits, templates and neutral third party facilitation.
In Manitoba, the project was implemented in collaboration with the Centre for Indigenous Environmental Resources.
The Community Infrastructure Partnership Program focused on joint water and solid waste management service agreements between First Nations and municipalities as well as capacity building, and offers many useful resources including service agreement templates, case studies and webinars.
Since 2014, 17 municipal - First Nation partnerships have participated in the Community Infrastructure Partnership Project.
