Vietnam Municipal Solid Waste Management Project
Partnership to improve solid waste management in Vietnam
Local governments are often responsible for dealing with the waste produced by residents and businesses. This pilot project supports two medium-size cities in Vietnam as they work to implement innovative solid waste management solutions. The focus is on reducing short-lived climate pollutants, which include methane and other greenhouse gases generated by organic waste, and to find solutions that can eventually be replicated in other municipalities across Vietnam.
FCM and its implementing partner, the Association of Cities in Vietnam, are sourcing Canadian municipalities that can provide technical assistance to help participating Vietnamese cities assess their municipal solid waste management practices, identify potential solutions and secure funding.
This 3 year, $1M initiative is funded by Environment and Climate Change Canada.
