The President of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Raymond Louie met Wednesday afternoon with federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, Amarjeet Sohi.

President Louie thanked Minister Sohi for his party's election commitment to meaningfully partner with municipalities and to implement a comprehensive 10-year infrastructure plan. President Louie presented Minister Sohi with an "action plan" that offered solutions to the government to help achieve their ambitious agenda for a strong Canada. Cities and Communities, Partners in Canada's Future lays out a plan of action for working with the municipal sector to drive growth, create jobs and improve the quality of life for all Canadians. It lays out critical steps that need to be taken in the first 100 days of Parliament to achieve results that will be felt by Canadians from coast to coast to coast.

"This is a great moment for Canadians families.  Together with municipalities, Prime Minister Trudeau and his government will be able to quickly and effectively implement their plans to invest in Canadian families through better transit, housing and infrastructure," said Louie. "As a former city councillor, Minister Sohi knows firsthand how, working together, our two orders of government can effectively and efficiently bolster Canada's economy and improve the lives of our citizens."

Wednesday's meeting with Minister Sohi was the latest in a series of high level discussions held between FCM President Raymond Louie and the new government including Prime Minister Trudeau and many of his new Cabinet members.
