FCM’s Sustainable and Inclusive Communities in Latin America program helped local governments in Colombia and Peru gain long-term benefits from mining development in their communities.
Implemented in two regions of Colombia (Antioquia and La Guajira) and two in Peru (Ancash and Cusco), the project aimed to increase the capacity of local governments to manage resources transparently, to lead dialogue with multiple stakeholders, and to promote sustainable local economic development. CISAL also worked with local government associations to strengthen the voice of local governments in the region and have a greater impact at the national level.
In this report, you will learn about the impact this program had on the regions, the results from the program, and how the program supported local economic development, women’s empowerment and sustainable economic growth.
