Sheila Fitzgerald is the Mayor of the Town of Roddickton-Bide Arm, a small town located in Northern Newfoundland and Labrador. She was first elected to council in 2012 and as mayor in 2013.
A strong advocate for environmental sustainability, Mayor Fitzgerald believes in taking a grassroots approach starting with the inclusion of children, youth, families and communities in the development of small action plans leading to larger environmentally friendly changes for the future. She brings a Master's of Social Work degree and a wealth of experience in board governance, having sat on boards and having held leadership roles over the course of her career.
Mayor Fitzgerald also currently holds the position of Small Towns Director on the Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador provincial association. She has an in-depth knowledge of municipal issues and the challenges small communities face in the areas of water, waste, transportation and energy.
She is passionate about her role as the voice for smaller communities and the delivering of economic, social and environmental sustainability, both provincially and nationally.
