Greenhouse gas emissions reduction maturity scale
Is your municipality ready and able to start reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions? Are you looking for ways to better track your community's progress in reaching your climate change goals?
FCM's Maturity Scale for Municipal GHG Emissions Reduction, also known as a readiness scale, is an evaluation tool that helps your municipality identify areas to improve your capacity to achieve emissions reductions. It will help you:
- Evaluate your emissions reduction skills and knowledge in three areas: policy, staffing, and managing risks within projects and teams.
- Break down big projects into smaller phases to help you identify priorities, focus your efforts and achieve your goals when planning projects and work areas.
- Track your progress and identify practical outcomes to achieve at each phase.
- Assess municipal, operational and broader community actions.
The maturity scale is designed for Canadian communities and cities of all sizes working to further GHG emissions reduction initiatives at any stage.
This maturity scale is based on the Milestone Framework for the FCM-ICLEI Partners for Climate Protection program. It was developed through FCM's Municipalities for Climate Innovation Program and funded by the Government of Canada.
