Milestone 5 Success Stories 2013
Canadian municipalities are taking action on climate change by reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions at the local level. The Partners for Climate Protection (PCP) program applauds their progress toward preserving our climate and adapting to future challenges.
Having achieved Milestone 5 in 2013, the City of London has long been dedicated to reducing GHG emissions. These efforts can be traced back as far as its Vision '96 — Planning for Tomorrow activities and more recently to its 2003 Air Quality in London — Moving Forward Locally air quality plan.
Saanich's Climate Action Plan was designed to complete PCP's five-milestone framework. Between 2007 and 2012, Saanich completed many projects that cut its corporate emissions by 14 per cent and community emissions by four per cent.
